German container collection up 2% in 2013
The collection of empty pesticide containers in Germany went up by 1.5% or 40 tonnes in 2013 to 2,665 tonnes, reports the German agrochemical industry association, the IVA. That represented around 65% of total containers collected, the same as the figure for 2012, but down on 2011’s 68% (Agrow No 643, p 10). The association’s container collection scheme, the PAMIRA, is a joint initiative of the crop protection industry and distributors. Over 70,000 farmers employ the scheme, the IVA says.
