Argentine herbicide spending up by half in three years
Spending on herbicides in Argentina grew by half over the three years 2010-13, national media report. They cite a study from the Estación Experimental Agroindustrial Obispo Colombres (Eeaoc). The growth was largely dependent on the rising price of glyphosate, while spending more than doubled on crops with herbicide-resistant weeds. The study emphasises growing concerns among growers of resistance to glyphosate. The study concluded with recommendations on cost and benefits of various resistance management herbicide application programmes.
