Canadian soybean crop soars
Canadian soybean plantings are set to rise by nearly a quarter (23.5%) to 5.6 million acres (2.3 million ha), according to the June survey by Statistics Canada. That would be a record for the sixth consecutive year. Record plantings have been seen in the provinces of Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the Maritimes. The organisation forecast a 16.5% rise to 5.3 million acres in March (Agrow No 687, p 23).
