Australia OKs Andermatt's Helicovex
The Swiss biopesticide company, Andermatt Biocontrol (Grossdietwil), has received Australian approval for its viral insecticide, Helicovex (Helicoverpa armigera nucleopolyhedrovirus), for the control of cotton bollworms (H armigera) and budworms (H punctigera) on a range of crops. The approval covers cereals, oilseeds, potatoes, soybeans, cotton, pome fruit, berry fruit, vegetables and ornamentals. The product will be distributed throughout Australia by Organic Crop Protectants (Turella, New South Wales). Helicovex was approved in South Africa in 2012 as Bolldex (Agrow No 645, p 20). It has also been registered in Brazil, Greece, Italy and Russia.
