DuPont ag business flat in Q2
DuPont's agrochemical and seed sales were "essentially flat" in the second quarter of 2014, falling by 0.4% to $3,615 million. The crop protection business recorded volume growth, but revenues were not disclosed. Higher insecticide and soybean seed volumes and higher seed prices were offset by lower maize seed and herbicide volumes. Supply-driven impacts on commodity prices led to reductions of maize plantings in North America and the Brazilian safrinha season, the company points out. The agriculture division recorded a price increase of about 1% and a volume decline of about 1% in the second quarter.
