Doubts over Intacta soy marketing in Brazil
Brazilian oilseed supplier industry union Abiove associates have so far failed to reach a deal with Monsanto to monitor the receipt and payment for genetically modified insect-resistant and herbicide tolerant Intacta RR2 Pro (MON87701xMON89788) soybeans. They have been negotiating the provision of services including monitoring for the past six months. The lack of consensus may cause processing companies not to be able to receive the Intacta soybean from growers, because of concerns over hitches in processing and marketing. The uncertainty is impacting production and putting exports and planting at risk, the association says. The Abiove intends to speed up negotiations and issue prompt updates to market, it adds. The union represents the soybean supply industry.
