FWS to end neonic use in US wildlife refuges

Neonicotinoid insecticides and genetically modified crops will be effectively banned from US national wildlife refuges by 2016, under a new policy by the US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). GM crops have been used for more than a decade in wildlife refuges to provide food and habitat for wildlife and much of the seed is also pre-treated with neonicotinoids.
