China’s agchem trade continues to rise in first half
China’s agrochemical trade saw growth across the board in the first six months of 2014, with gains in every major category. Six-month pesticide exports saw double-digit growth in value and volume terms on the same period last year, with the value of exports growing 20.1% to $2,366 million, while volume exports rose 10.5% to 669,000 tonnes. The data are from China’s General Administration of Customs, and reported by the China Crop Protection Industry Association. China’s National Bureau of Statistics last month valued the country’s six-month agrochemical exports (100% active ingredient, delivery value) at Yuan 19,681 million ($3,170 million at the current rate – see this issue ). Discrepancies arise from different methods of calculation. The Customs Administration data are also more comprehensive.
