Platform to acquire Agriphar

The US specialty chemicals company, Platform Specialty Products (Miami, Florida), has agreed to acquire the Belgian agrochemical company, Agriphar (Ougrée), for some €300 million ($402 million at the current rate). It is expected to be funded through a combination of debt and cash, with completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2014. The move follows Platform's decision to acquire Chemtura AgroSolutions (CAS) for some $1,000 million (Agrow No 687, p 2). That purchase is also expected to be finalised in the fourth quarter.
