Brazil approves Dow’s pyroxsulam
Brazil has approved the sale and use of Dow AgroSciences' herbicide, pyroxsulam. The company is to market the selective herbicide as Tricea for use on wheat. It provides post-emergence and residual control of grass and broadleaf weeds, including ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum), wild radish (Raphanus raphanistrum) and wild buckwheat (Polygonum convolvulus). The initial launch has been limited to the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, with a nationwide introduction planned for next year. The national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa, confirmed its approval of pyroxsulam earlier this year (Agrow No 686, p 21). The active ingredient was first approved in Chile in 2007 (Agrow No 532, p 21).
