The soybean, maize, cotton and sugar cane sectors are driving growing demand for pesticides in Brazil, the business newspaper, Diario de Comercio e Industria, reports. It cites the agrochemical industry trade association, the Sindiveg, adding that soybean products accounted for the majority (51.3%) of last year’s $11,454 million of sales (Agrow No 691, p 17). The Sindiveg anticipates 6-9% growth in this year’s pesticide market (Agrow ibid).
