EU to update biocide review rules
Rules governing the ongoing review of existing biocides, including non-crop pesticides, are to be updated to take account of stricter registration requirements. In particular, the changes will reflect new provisions for evaluating active ingredients against hazard-based criteria, and designating candidates for substitution with safer alternatives, the European Commission says. Its draft regulation was circulated to EU Ministers in August. The documents include lists of ais that that are still in the review, as well as ais that have lost their original supporters and could be transferred to other companies willing to provide the registration data.
