Latin Americans learn Brazil’s hit container recycling
Representatives from eight Latin American nations are seeking to take the knowledge and experience of Brazil’s successful pesticide container recycling system to their respective countries. The agrochemical container disposal organisation, the inpEV, is disseminating the functioning of its Campo Limpo reverse logistics of empty pesticide containers programme to agribusiness representatives from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay. They visited the inpEV’s Taubaté facility in Sao Paulo state that develops recycling technologies, where they learned the flow of the system from the entry of empty containers in receiving stations to final disposal, recycling and incineration, focusing on the role of the inpEV, which controls the operation. The programme is hailed as the most successful in the world and recycling hit record levels again last year (Agrow No 681, p 17).
