Monsanto GM soybean line advances in US

The USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has made a preliminary decision to extend the deregulation of Monsanto's genetically modified insect-resistant MON87701 soybeans to insect-resistant MON87751 soybeans. Both lines are resistant to lepidopteran pests. MON87751, which produces the Bt Cry1A.105 and Cry2Ab2 toxins, differs in conferring greater resistance to fall armyworms (Spodoptera frugiperda) than MON87701, which produces the Cry1Ac toxin.
