Croplife LA issues pest and disease map
Industry association CropLife Latin America has issued a map detailing the presence of major pests, diseases and resistant weeds in the region. The map reveals which are prevalent in which countries, with references by country and pest/disease. The pests covered include: corn earworms (Helicoverpa armigera), bean thrips (Caliothrips phaseoli), European grape vine moths (Lobesia botrana), Andean potato weevils (Premnotrypes vorax) and tobacco budworms (Heliothis virescens); as well as resistant weeds Johnson grass (Sorghum halepense), and hairy fleabane (Conyza bonariensis); and diseases palm heart disease (Hytophthora palmivora), coffee rust (Hemileia vastratrix), black leaf streak (Mycosphaerella fijiensis Morelet), and frog eye leaf spot (Cercospora sojina).
