New Zealand mulls mosquito repellent
The New Zealand Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has received an application from the Australian subsidiary of US company S C Johnson to import a novel mosquito repellent. It is a strip impregnated with the pyrethroid insecticide, metofluthrin, which is part of a refill cartridge for insertion into a portable battery-operated vaporiser. Each cartridge provides up to 12 hours of "head to toe" protection, according to the applicant. The EPA is seeking public comment on the application until October 9th.
