Companies to present Brazil govt glyphosate safety proof
Several pesticide suppliers in Brazil are working to present evidence to government and regulators to support the continued use of glyphosate herbicide, newswire Agrolink reports. It cites pesticide registration company Allier Brasil partner Flavio Hirata. The public prosecutor’s office is seeking the active ingredient’s withdrawal from the national market on safety grounds (Agrow No 685, p 19). It is one of several pesticides whose use the prosecutor seeks to suspend. "There is a project that brings together several companies in the industry, and others involved in toxicology, to present to the government and the various authorities documentary, scientific, evidence on the product’s safety," Mr Hirata reportedly says.
