Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture has issued its 2014/15 plan for the monitoring and control of pesticide residues in food of plant origin. The national control of residues in plant origin products, the PNRC, includes: a range of 30 crops, including maize, soybeans and wheat, as well as various fruits and vegetables; an annex (number 4) detailing which active ingredients are to be included within the scope of each crop; and in Annex 5, the maximum residue limits by crop. Typically, 15-90 samples of each crop are to be collected from July 1st 2014 to June 30th 2015. The monitoring will cover 136 ais on maize, 129 on soybeans, 69 on wheat and 119 on rice.
