Brazil audits export fruit for agchem residues
The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture is carrying out a “pre-audit” of pesticide residues on apples and papayas bound for the EU. The inspections are taking place in two states, Santa Catarina for apples, and Espirito Santo for papayas. The actions come in anticipation of a visit by EU authorities later this month to evaluate Brazilian fruit for export to Europe. The European Commission’s Food and Veterinary Office audit on residue levels will take place next year, the Ministry notes.
