Brazil to add second agchem container recycle plant
Brazil’s pesticide container disposal organisation, the inpEV, is to build a second recycling plant in the country. The facility will cost some $10 million, cover 6,000 m and manufacture plastic packaging for pesticides. It is to be based in Taubate, Sao Paulo state and open by 2021. The first plant was opened in 2008 in the same city, costing some R$45 million (US$20 million) to date and doubling recycling capacity to some 9,000 tonnes a year. However, concerns over the ability of the facility to keep pace with the growing recycling efforts in the country have led to the intention to add a plant. Disposal and recycling topped 40,000 tonnes last year (Agrow No 681, p 17). That accounted for 94% of available containers in the fields, the inpEV says.
