US senators seek end to China GM maize dispute

A bipartisan group of 19 US senators from major farm states have urged the Obama Administration to expedite efforts to address China's recent rejection of US grain exports, calling it "essential" to maintaining the nation's position as "the leading agricultural exporter worldwide". China has blocked some 1.5 million tons of US maize and dried grain since November 2013, citing concerns about the presence of Syngenta’s Agrisure Viptera (MIR162) maize.
