Arysta debuts Kasumin 2L in US
Arysta LifeScience North America has launched its bactericide, Kasumin 2L (kasugamycin 2.3%), in the US for the control of fireblight (Erwinia amylovora) on pome fruit. The EPA granted an unconditional time-limited approval for four years this month. The Agency proposed the authorisation in March (Agrow No 685, p 25). Kasumin 2L has been subject to emergency exemptions in the US state of Michigan for the past five years for the control of streptomycin-resistant fireblight. Kasugamycin has a different mode of action from streptomycin and oxytetracycline and it is not used for human or veterinary uses, the EPA notes. The risk of cross-resistance is considered to be low. "With a new mode of action to control fireblight, Kasumin is a great tool to help control this destructive disease," says Arysta's tree, nut and vine marketing manager, Carmen Holding.
