Exosect gets UK patent for storage pest control

UK pest management company Exosect (Winchester, Hampshire) has received a patent from the UK patent office for the control of arthropod infestations in dry stored commodities such as grains, pulses and oilseeds. The patent is for the use of electrostatic micro powders as a delivery platform for entomopathogenic fungi for the effective control of infestations. The move is timely as the company submits an application for Annex 1 registration under the EU agrochemical registration Regulation (1107/2009) this month for Entostat Bb38, which is based on this technology incorporating the entomopathogenic fungus, Beauveria bassiana, Exosect says.
