Canada to OK Bayer's flupyradifurone
The Canadian Pest Management Regulator Agency (PMRA) has proposed the approval of two insecticides based on Bayer CropScience's flupyradifurone. Sivanto 200 SL is for foliar and soil application on fruit and vegetable crops, and BYI 02960 480 FS is a seed treatment for use on soybeans. Flupyradifurone is in a sub-group (butenolides) of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) agonists, which include neonicotinoids, nicotine and sulfoxaflor. It provides a new mode of action to control pests that have developed resistance to older chemistries, the PMRA notes.
