US inert ingredient disclosure suit dismissed

A US federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by environmental and public health groups that aimed to force the EPA to require pesticide manufacturers to disclose inert ingredients on product labels. The September 15th ruling ends an eight-year legal saga over the issue of inert disclosure, handing a key victory to the Agency. A coalition of more than 20 organisations, led by the Center for Environmental Health, petitioned the EPA in 2006, identifying more than 350 inert ingredients considered hazardous under federal law (Agrow No 501, p 16).
