Deqiang Bio issues illegal ningnanmycin warning in China
Chinese company Deqiang Biology has issued a warning to unlicensed manufacturers of its patented biological fungicide, ningnanmycin, in China. The company has become aware of illegal pesticide products claiming to contain ningnanmycin on sale in the country, prompting it to issue the legal warning with the aid of China’s Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals. The unlicensed products have “a pest control efficacy of around zero”, the company says. Deqiang Biology has not authorised any other company to produce the fungicide and will be “taking legal action” against offenders. Earlier this year, Deqiang Biology was awarded a pesticide company licence for a 100 tonnes/year plant for the manufacture of ningnanmycin (Agrow No 684, p 3). Ningnanmycin is in the initial stages of commercialisation in China.
