Romer Labs debuts Duracade test kits
The US diagnostics company, Romer Labs, (Newark, Delaware), has introduced two monitoring tools for the detection of Syngenta's genetically modified insect-resistant Agrisure Duracade (5307) maize. The tests were developed with support from Syngenta for growers and others who handle Duracade grain, which is not yet approved for import to China and the EU. The AgraStrip TraitChek system allows the detection of one Duracade maize kernel in 400 non-Duracade kernels at grain elevators in 3-5 minutes, Romer points out. The company has also introduced AgraStrip SeedChek lateral flow and ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay)-based systems to test seed lots for quality control requirements and leaf tissue samples in the field or laboratory.
