Brazil opens to Asian agchem invasion
Indian and Chinese companies are advancing at great strides in the Brazilian agrochemical market, attracted by rapid growth in the national market, newswire Agrlolink reports. In 2001, only 40 tonnes of pesticides were imported from India and 2,060 tonnes from China, it notes. Such imports have since jumped to some 32,180 tonnes and 107,440 tonnes, respectively. The newswire reports 335 approvals for technical products (active ingredients with impurities) for the formulation of pesticide products in Brazil.
