EU calls for more Romanian agchem controls
Romania has been instructed to improve its control structures on the use of pesticides and ensure that re-registration of products is finalised to fixed EU deadlines. The Romanian authorities have promised to strengthen evaluation teams in a range of competencies to meet 2016 stage deadlines. They have further agreed protocols with industry for extensive training on safe and sustainable use of products. The authorities are implementing a regime covering professional users to improve the application of pesticide products in line with label requirements. The programme will run during 2014-16 and include 10,000 farm inspections per year.
