China to educate public on GMOs

China’s Ministry of Agriculture has launched a media campaign across the country to educate the public about the benefits of genetically modified organisms. The campaign is a reaction to the negative publicity surrounding GMOs from many parts of Chinese society. It aims to “create a beneficial social environment for the development of GMOs”, and will focus on getting the public to “reasonably appraise GMOs” by explaining the technology and the measures the Chinese government has taken to ensure food safety.
