EU measures on biocide use need to wait for ai review

Any move towards introducing measures on the sustainable use of biocides, including non-crop pesticides, would need to wait until the ongoing EU review of existing biocidal active ingredients is completed. Until this is done, there will be many products on the market that are not yet authorised according to current EU standards, and it would be premature to impose measures on their use, believes Pierre Choraine of the European Commission’s Environment Directorate General. He was speaking at a biocides stakeholders' day organised by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in September.
