UK report highlights ai losses from EU policies

The current EU policy regime for plant protection roducts (PPP) risks severely damaging UK agriculture by removing or limiting the use of key active ingredients, says a report by UK-based consultancy The Anderson Centre (Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire). It found that as a result of EU policies, and their implementation in the UK, over a third or 87 out of around 250 approved ais could be lost. Of these, around 40 (ten insecticides, 12 fungicides, 16 herbicides and two molluscicides) are considered to have a high likelihood of disappearing or being restricted within the next five to seven years.
