DuPont Pioneer expands Canadian seed plant
DuPont seed subsidiary DuPont Pioneer has opened a Can$19 million (US$17 million) expansion to its maize and soybean seed processing facility at Chatham, Ontario. The 15,000 sq ft (1,394 m2) expansion includes towers for blending genetically modified insect-resistant Bt maize with non-Bt lines as an integrated refuge. Pioneer's Optimum AcreMax range of integrated refuge products removes the need for farmers to plant a separate refuge, thereby saving time and money, the company points out.
