FMC agchems up 4% in third quarter
FMC recorded a 3.5% rise in agrochemical sales to $548.8 million in the third quarter of 2014. The increase was driven primarily by Latin America where sales rose by 9%. There was increased demand for herbicides to control glyphosate-resistant weeds and continued penetration of new products into the soybean and cotton sectors, FMC points out. Those gains were partly offset by reduced sales in the Brazilian sugar cane market due to continued drought. Margins for the regional business improved over the second quarter and over the third quarter of last year.
