Agdia debuts MIR162 maize test kit
The US diagnostics company, Agdia (Elkhart, Indiana), has introduced a test kit for the detection of the Vip3A toxin in Syngenta's genetically modified insect-resistant MIR162 maize. The Vip3A ImmunoStrip was developed for trait confirmation testing of seed lots using either individual kernels or leaf samples. It can be used for testing bulk grain samples with a detection of one Vip3A kernel in 500 negative kernels, or 0.2%, Agdia points out. All Agdia ImmunoStrips are rugged enough for field environments and give results in under five minutes, the company notes.
