Starpharma gains Chinese dendrimer technology patent
The Australian dendrimer molecular technology company, Starpharma (Melbourne), has been granted a formulation patent in China for its Priostar dendrimers with agrochemicals, including glyphosate. Dendrimers are nanoscale compounds that Starpharma is applying to agrochemical formulations with a view to improving activity and reducing application rates. It has signed development agreements with Nufarm, Adama Agricultural Solutions and Gowan. Starpharma has filed patent applications in major agrochemical markets and the Chinese one is the first to be allowed. "The allowance of this patent will further support commercial exploitation of Starpharma's dendrimer technology in China and, because of China's leading position in the manufacture of glyphosate, globally," says chief executive officer Jackie Fairley.
