Tepraloxydim EU approval to expire next year
The expiry date of the EU approval for the graminicide, tepraloxydim, is to be restored to its original date of May 31st 2015, following the decision of the applicant not to further pursue its renewal. BASF gained the original EU approval in 2005. The active ingredient was developed by Nisso BASF, a joint venture between BASF, Nippon Soda and Mitsui & Co. The proposed date change will cancel an extension to July 31st 2017, which was granted in 2012 because more time was needed for EU renewal procedures to be completed. The European Commission’s proposal was supported by the EU Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed in October, and requires publication in the EU Official Journal before coming into force.
