EU rapporteur to change for mecoprop-P review
The UK is to take over from Poland as the rapporteur member state evaluating the application to renew EU approval of the herbicide, mecoprop-P. The change was requested by the applicant in agreement with the countries concerned. Mecoprop-P first gained EU re-registration in 2003, supported by task forces led by BASF and Nufarm. The term of its current registration has been extended to January 31st 2017 to allow for the slow EU renewal procedures. The change of rapporteur was voted through by the EU Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed in October and requires adoption by the European Commission before coming into force. Ireland would remain as co-rapporteur.
