Anvisa Brazil calls for stricter agchem production rules

The Brazilian national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa, has called for stricter legislation governing the pesticide industry after finding irregularities “at all” of the companies that it has inspected since the middle of last year. The agency has carried out inspections at six agrochemical companies since June 2009 ( Agrow passim), finding unlicensed and out-of-date formulations among other irregularities, according to director José Agenor Àlvares. That had led to the seizure of 9 million litres of pesticides, he told the official news agency, Agencia Brasil.
