New EU legislation on the use of pesticides will have a dramatic impact on the Brazilian sector, according to reported analysis from the agrochemical industry trade association, the Sindag. It presented its conclusions at the industry’s monthly meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture’s chamber of agricultural inputs, the CTIA. More than half (50-60%) of pesticide products in Brazil are either candidates for substitution or prohibition in the EU, from 50% to 82% of the Brazilian pesticide will be affected, and the country’s exports are “under threat”.
