Spain grants exceptional use for Affirm and Altacor

Spain has granted exceptional use registrations for Syngenta’s insecticide, Affirm (emamectin benzoate) and DuPont’s insecticide, Altacor (chlorantraniliprole). They are for use on covered and uncovered tomatoes to control leaf miners ( Tuta absoluta), and run for 120 days from March 15th. Affirm is a soluble granule formulation for use at 2 kg/ha. Altacor is a water-dispersible granule for use at 120 g/ha for uncovered tomatoes, and 170 g/ha for covered. Spain approved two other products for exceptional use against leaf miners last year ( Agrow No 581, p 23). They were for Bayer CropScience’s insecticide, Fenos (flubendiamide), and BASF’s Alverde (metaflumizone), and are included in the March authorisation notification.
