EU extends provisional approvals for FEN 560

The European Commission has permitted EU member states to extend existing provisional approvals until April 6th 2012 for the new plant activator, FEN 560, which is based on fenugreek seed powder. The active ingredient was developed by French company Société Occitane de Fabrications et de Technologies (SOFT), as Stimulia, for use on grapevines to stimulate plant defences against foliar fungi. It holds approvals in France and Luxembourg. SOFT originally submitted its application for EU approval in 2003 to France as rapporteur member state. This is the second time that the three-year provisional approvals have been extended for the ai ( Agrow No 543, p 7). Further data were requested and more time is needed to complete the evaluation, the Commission says.
