EFSA issues guide on statistical reporting
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has issued guidelines on how to report statistical data in documents such as dossiers submitted for EU approval of agrochemicals or genetically modified crops. The guide aims to improve the quality of the information or analyses received by the EFSA. It notes that statistical reporting “varies considerably”, which can lead to lack of transparency and reproducibility of results, and may also delay the review process while additional information is sought. A template is proposed for reporting relevant aspects of statistical analysis, including: objectives; sources of information (data); study design; data quality; analysis methods; results; and interpretation. The document does not attempt to provide guidance on which statistical methods to use or how to perform the statistical analysis.
