Germany launches farmer survey on glyphosate
The German University of Goettingen is conducting a nationwide farmer survey in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the BMEL, on use of the herbicide, glyphosate. The survey aims to be a “neutral and independent assessment” of the active ingredient, which has been the “subject of political and social debates”. The study further seeks to examine and chart the application of glyphosate in order to analyse the economic importance of the herbicide in farming. It wants to develop consulting recommendations for the sustainable use of the herbicide.
