Iharabras launches biopesticide division
Brazilian agrochemical company Iharabras (Sorocaba) is launching a division dedicated to biological crop protection products. The company has invested in biopesticides over the past four years “with several projects under way”. The bullish market for the segment has convinced Iharabras to give a greater focus to the segment. Iharabras distributes products under long-term deals for major companies, such as Mitsui & Co subsidiary Certis USA’s viral bioinsecticide, Gemstar (Helicoverpa zea nucleopolyhedrovirus), launched this year for the control of earworms (Helicoverpa spp) on cotton. The segment represents 10% of company sales, it says. The division will initially focus on marketing and research projects, later extending towards formulation and production.
