Shenghua Biok plummets 65% in 2009

Chinese chemical company Shenghua Biok’s 2009 agrochemical sales slumped 64.9% to Yuan 630.8 million ($92.5 million at the current rate) compared with 2008. The company’s agrochemical division recorded sales of some $263.4 million in 2008, on the back of high glyphosate herbicide prices. Agrochemicals accounted for 42% of sales in 2009, but were the hardest hit of the company’s businesses. They comprised some 65.1% of total sales in 2008 ( Agrow No 567, p 8). Exports plummeted 60% on the previous year.
