EU recognises more complete dossiers for new ais
The European Commission has confirmed that the application dossier for Japanese company Otsuka’s acaricide, cyflumetofen, is complete. This is an early stage in the EU evaluation process ( Agrow No 589, p 12). Otsuka submitted its application last year to the Netherlands, which will handle the detailed assessmentof the dossier. Cyflumetofen is already sold in Japan, as Danisaraba, for use on fruit trees, vegetables, tea and ornamentals. The Netherlands is also acting as rapporteur for the plant growth regulator, 1,4-dimethylnaphthalene, which has had its dossier declared complete. The application was submitted last year by UK company DormFresh (Perth). 1,4-dimethylnaphthalene occurs naturally in potatoes, where it inhibits sprouting.
