New EU project to reduce agchems in water
A new EU project to reduce water pollution from agricultural sources has been launched, supported by the European Crop Protection Association and other partners. It is designed to spread the implementation of best practices on water protection by providing advice direct to farmers across Europe, including training and workshops. It will involve 14 EU member states and run from 2015 until the end of 2017. The project, called TOPPS Water Protection, represents the latest phase of the TOPPS (Train the Operators to Prevent Pollution from Point Sources) initiative. TOPPS started in 2005, focusing on agrochemical contamination from point sources, and was followed by TOPPS Prowadis (Protecting Water from Diffuse Sources).
