India moves towards computerised applications

The Indian Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee (CIBRC) plans to stabilise the software for online filing of registration of pesticides by the end of this month after which it would stop receiving applications manually. In a session held with pesticide industry associations last month ( Agrow No 589, p 24), the CIBRC heard concerns, including those of CropLife India, about online data security and confidentiality of documents and dossiers. It has asked the country’s National Informatics Centre, which is developing the software, to provide foolproof security against data copying or transfer by incorporating a suitable disabling mechanism.
