Dow presents GM Conkesta soy in Brazil
Dow AgroSciences has presented its genetically modified insect-resistant and herbicide-tolerant DAS81419 soybeans in Brazil as Conkesta. The technology is based on the Bt Cry1Ac and Cry1F toxins for the control of lepidopteran pests. The marketing of Conkesta has been initially directed at South America with registration applications submitted in “key soybean producing” countries. “Brazil represents the greatest opportunity, considering losses from the pests in the country’s soybean crop, followed by Argentina” the company says.
